Hi when i try to play a link from a dota replay it gives me this message:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
The link i am clicking on to get this message is the one within 'Replay' of a given dota game. I'm trying to watch the dota replays, does anyone know a way to fix this or a way to WATCH replays?
Thanks.

Ermm open it with warcraft? Not with WMP.
Go to single player than replays (replay should be in wc3 replay folder in order to show up)
Also, there are special programs to watch replays that does not require you to get in game. But ignore that for now

Unfortunately, replays as saved by warcraft 3 are not technically a video, and you cannot skip around in the replay without 3rd party software either.

@karils @synematic Any suggestions what software I need to download/update to watch the replays then?

@sev you watch them in warcraft 3. If it's a replay you've downloaded, you would need to move it to your replays folder in your documents, load singler player in warcraft 3 and then view the replay inside there.
