How does ELO work?

I have been playing recently trying to get my ELO up but i just don't get how it works and the fastest way to get it up. :/ I know winning increases it but sometimes it adds different points o.O

ELO goes up more if your team's skill (calculated based on the ELO of each member on the team) is lower than the other team's. So, if you play balanced games or games where the opposing team has players with generally higher ELO scores, then you'll gain more ELO.

But ELO isn't the only thing that counts. I wouldn't think another player is good until I've played him or her myself (that said, I suck at DotA).

If you have high elo it doesn't mean your good or neither pro.
For me, all I see in stats is the person's kd ratio.

You'll must edit ELO enables into game_base.cpp and =- ELO - =
I hope we'll should make some changes to the (ENT)? one time, hosting AR,AP modes.
This works fine and without (bugs/crashes).
