Dota 1 in 2017/ Almost 2018

Postby jfaller1 » Sat Nov 25, 2017 2:13 am

I'm just curious, what is it that keeps people playing this game? Are they not good enough to play dota 2. Can their computers not handle dota 2? Do they just want to feel superior since ENT pubs/IH are very easy games. Or is it simple just the love for the game. Would love to hear some feedback. Doing a poll for my school project and psychology and what attracts people to a dead game. Any answers are welcomed!

Alright here is the feedback: people still play this because dota 2 has too many fags that think they are god or something over stupid reasons such as 1. they are possibly "good" (or not) at a video game; 2. they can afford a computer that cost like what, 2K?; 3. they feel superior since they have the free time and energy to waste on a "hard" game.

I play dota 1 so I don't have to listen to all of South America yelling at each other in every game

Chew with the best answer. Us east is PERU NORTH practically. But back to burnt. nothing of what you said made sense. the "average" dota 2 player is better than 90 percent of ENT current player, you dont need a 2k comp to play dota 2 and i believe more people waste time and energy grinding some hard earned ELO than MMR. Dota 2 has plenty of fags, but nothing compared to every current ENT player.

relaxed topic but you start with pretty perjorative comments. Yes, I play dota 1 because im not good enough to play dota 2, I play it on a wooden laptop, but no, Im not a "fag", and I have no illusions that Im a god. What a ridiculous thread.

If you were really looking for opinions, you have to stay objective and not try influence people.
If you criticize opinions when your goal is to "gather" opinions, you are not going to get good results.

I do not think that you are working on any projects for school or psychology.
You are simply looking to stir up a debate on the subject.

1) My laptop is not powerful enough to play dota 2 without lags ...
2) I know the items / gameplay of dota, and I don't really want to learn a new game like dota 2 which can take a lot of time to master.
3) I don't really appreciate the skins of dota 2.

For me it's the gameplay itself. Dota 1 feels much more fluid and responsive. Kind of hard to explain. I did try to get used to dota 2 and probably played 500 games or so but in the end I prefer dota 1 10x more. Also dota 2 feels immensely cluttered somehow but like I said, it's hard for me to put it into words. Just doesn't feel "right".

Also, dota 1 isn't dead in the sense that there are always games going on, sure it's not competitive but I play purely for fun and tbh I never had any dreams or desires to treat a game as anything but just "fun"

I don't like how dota 2 looks. All the heroes look the same and it doesn't feel like dota. Looks like they cloned LoL or some shit. Ugly as hell.
Dota 1 isn't dead and probably won't be for another 10 years. It's not dead while you can find games.
Anyways this troll failed pretty much, no one's mad.

Stop with the excuses. @Chew I have played 2000 games of dota 2 and Maybe ONCE ive had ACTUAL south americans yelling at each other. Its mostly just angry white guys like all of us. @divinerape you're saying dota 1 runs smoother than dota 2? everything you stand for is a joke. The movement delays alone on dota 1 is enough to make me develop cancer. @EdgeofChaos yeah noone likes how it looks when you first start because you're just so used to the dota 1 look. But i PROMISE if you actually gave it a good try (50 games or so) you would actually get used to the look and start liking it. I was like you at first. @Quentin Im almost 100% sure your laptop can run dota 2 if you put it on the lowest graphic and performance settings. My shitty laptop was like 300 bucks and has an i3 processor and I run the game smoothly. @SheSwallows you're gross in real life

I can't even run Dota 1 smoothly so no I can't run dota 2 ...
I must unplug it to cool it down and put the laptop at the edge on my table (60 % of the laptop on the air) in order to be able to play a single game, and if the game lasts too much, I got so many lags I must even leave on Dota 1 cause it's not even possible to play (too many freezes).
