Haha that's cool as hell. I just can't help but wonder how much of the winnings actually end up in the player's accounts... doubt they get to keep even 20% of it

Most pro players get their money from sponsorships and streaming.

Do you have a source for this?

http://www.gosugamers.net/dota2/news/41 ... es-secrets panda.tv, the chinese equivalent to twitch makes million dollar deals with proteams for example

Destiny said on interview that he makes about 100k a year from twitch bucks.
Interview link is now dead unfortunately. But that above one is good.

yes the Chinese are the only ones to make more from streaming and contracts. i don't think euro and NA teams (NA the best) make a lot streaming unless you're someone like Arteezy getting 15k viewers

Ahh dota what a great creation. I play dota 1 for one main reason (or used to) that being when i first started oh back in 2009 the skill level of players that used heros so uniquely addicted me to give my all every game. With or without a good team. True the graphics and timing isnt perfect but without dota 1 there is no dota 2. Very large portion of the better players moved to dota 2 so the competitive play isnt what it was however if you play alone you will find the people who are still great players.

"Dota 1 in 2017/ Almost 2018" :

A never ending torrent of a system (imposed by ENT) which constantly brings the stackers and uneven matches witch has no ending in sight.

In a nutshell.

jfaller1 wrote:I'm just curious, what is it that keeps people playing this game? Are they not good enough to play dota 2. Can their computers not handle dota 2? Do they just want to feel superior since ENT pubs/IH are very easy games. Or is it simple just the love for the game. Would love to hear some feedback. Doing a poll for my school project and psychology and what attracts people to a dead game. Any answers are welcomed!

Pretty simple

1. People don't have the specs for Dota 2 (it is constantly changing and continual patches require more workload on computers)

2. Everyone wants to reminisce their childhood games: WC3 TFT has been around for more than a decade and its fair to say its still strong and there are so many custom games on the servers in Warcraft that people would come back and play it still (e.g WMW, Dota, Vamps, Lod etc..)

3. It is still competitive (or in a way, there is still competition), well this is in my view: I see LTD ranked matches, some competitions and some in-houses

4. Integrated communities: ENT is one out of many communities that still play Dota, likewise Perfect World for China, iccup for CIS countries, and garena for SEA teams. Each of the respective communities thrives on games and its players and from point 3, there is still incentive for those that like to play their classic game to continue

Personally, I just want to see that ban request get denied just so you and your merry band of fruitcakes get overly triggered, since that entire ban request is nothing but "Whoever doesn't agree with our false sense of reality or says something that hurt our feelings is a racist!"
