Hey all,
It's been over a month since we've updated the Dota map from 6.83d to 6.85ne14b. I want to provide some clarity around the current map and development status so there’s no confusion or speculation.
The map we are hosting — 6.85ne14b — originates from the work started by Tufu.
While Tufu has since retired from active development, the project did not disappear.
Lainhart is actively maintaining the 6.85 branch and remains available for support. I spoke with him directly and we tested later builds (6.87 and 6.89). Those versions were largely created for later environments and are not compatible with Warcraft III 1.30, which ENT currently runs.
To be clear:
For our existing legacy infrastructure, 6.85ne version is the highest, most stable, and fully compatible version available.
Lainhart is available to assist with bug-related issues within this branch, but there are no plans for major core overhauls beyond what the 1.30 environment can realistically support.
On another important note —
Huge thanks to @h3rmit who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes updating OpenStats so that the newer items and mechanics in 6.85ne14b are properly reflected in replays and stat tracking.
Replay accuracy and stat integrity matter for competitive credibility, and that work does not magically happen. It takes time, coding, and persistence. We appreciate it.

Re: Dota Map Version, Developer Status, and Replay Updates
@MikeJones There must be some major changes to @h3rmit openstats cause i found some issues now i reload the page. I think my rating decreased again dunno why and for instance it shows me i played 2 games with enchantress icon but i haven't played any game as enchantress the last month or so. Same with Clock. How could it be possible to show a game played with Clock since i havent ? i think its some kind of confusing there. And as of performance it shows me now many games as average- below avg- good when i had like 20 games + as above average to good. Suddenly my performance stats since yesterday totally disappeared and i see new ones again wtf??? Dunno what happens. All stats, performance and rating in total seems to be dropped down in full scale...

@mikoroso - Thanks for dropping by ENT. Looking forward to working with you on the development side along with @h3rmit and @tufuuu.
@godsavetheqqs - h3rmit is actively working on the site. Do not fear I'll hit him up on discord regarding this.

Re: Dota Map Version, Developer Status, and Replay Updates
@GodSaveTheQQs all the games played in the new map version were getting re-procesed to account for missing new items and heroes. Now both stats pages and show most of them correctly. Only a few may be still missing. The replay parser page will also be updated soon.
Now, as far as the map goes, I come from a community where DracoL1ch's 6.85k version was the standard 10 years ago, and I was pretty accustomed to all the quality-of-life features you see now. While 6.85ne borrows some new stuff from 6.86 and 6.87, it's mostly based on 6.85k, and after playing a few games on it, I can say it feels like home. I had a hard time adjusting back to 6.83d when I first came to ENT, and remained on the lower end of skill in the community. This change now feels both refreshing and nostalgic.
As for 6.83d, I will soon publish all finished bugfixes that I had been working on and that were planned to be included in the next release, just so that they don't get lost.

Re: Dota Map Version, Developer Status, and Replay Updates
I’ve received several questions regarding Techies’ Minefield Sign. This ability was introduced in 6.84v. When Techies places the sign over his mines, it prevents those mines from being revealed by Gem or Sentry. He can also place the sign without any mines underneath it, which forces enemies to either respect the threat or risk walking into a trap.
Keep in mind that the ability has both a cooldown and a duration limit. It is not permanent. Please refer to the link below for full details on the mechanics and timing.
And just to ground this in design logic: it’s a psychological weapon as much as a mechanical one. The sign doesn’t just hide mines — it manipulates decision-making.

Re: Dota Map Version, Developer Status, and Replay Updates

@aesrf - While some heroes definitely was tweaked or balanced compared to 6.83d but are you sure sniper is as weak as you claim? Please see some recent top performing games by players using sniper below.

Re: Dota Map Version, Developer Status, and Replay Updates
@mikejones thanks for that. I'm honestly not sure about snipe honestly. I wish there was something that showed what heroes were balanced.
