I'm Loving the tooltips and formatting. Skills look really good and reasonably balanced already, some numbers can be tweaked if this suggestion is considered by Neco. Some small improvements can always be made though.

    Your original fruit tree tooltip:
    Spoiler!
Also referred to as a Food Source, this building provides food for towers and harvesters.
Each tree provides 25 food. It protects itself by shooting thorns at nearby enemies.

    Cost: 20 lumber
    Build time: 1 second
    Requirements: None

    Health Points: 300
    Attack: 20-20 Piercing, Ranged
    Range: 700
    Attack Speed: Fast
    Armor: 4 Normal

My version of the fruit tree tooltip would be:
    Spoiler!
    Lumber cost: 20
    Build time: X
    Health points: 300
    Attack: 20-20
    Attack type: Piercing
    Range: 700
    Attack speed: Fast (X.XX APS)
    Armour: 4
    Armour type: Normal

Food source - Provides food for towers, harvesters and attacks enemies

    Explanation:
    Spoiler!
    - "Requirements: None" - That's just unnecessary clutter for the tooltips.
    - Remove full stops at the end of lines for further reducing of clutter.
    - No-one actually reads the descriptions, so I'd just have it in small print and italicised at the bottom.
    - The more important things are the stats and to make it as clear as possible, with the more important stats on top.
    - Note I don't know certain values I just leave as "X".
    - APS = Attacks per second; another useful stat, much better than just "fast".
    - I won't add any colour to the tooltip because Neco would have his own theme.
    - If an item/spell had an active/passive ability, it'd be at the top with normal font.
    - Inspired by DotA2 tooltips: https://www.dota2.com/items/

I know it's some pretty small changes, your tooltips are really nice already, it's just that there's always room for improvement. It's awesome to have so much information on each tooltip in ID, or at least on every single one of the newer tooltips.

    Off topic:
Completely trivial complaint about the builder model. Dwarfs are humanoids too.

As much as I like your insights Burn, I think it's better to leave the description to the top. The description is to help new players figure out which kind of structure this building is. And thus, it should remain on the top. Players who already know this don't need to read it, and instead look at the stats that are closer to the UI when it's at the bottom.

The attack speed is a bit problematic, as in games such as League of Legends, attack speed is displayed by the value on how many attacks a unit can perform in a second, for example 2 attacks per second is Attack Speed =2.000. However in Warcraft III the attack speed is based on how much time it takes to perform an attack (does not show correctly if animations take longer, same with ability casting) and thus we have values such as 0.75 (seconds to perform an attack). I am not sure which way would be more sensible to show the value as, but yes, better than "fast". One option would be to make some visual bar such as [Slow IIIIIIIIIIII|IIII Fast] in addition to the raw value. But I feel that would be unnecessary.

The color, yes, they need to be remade in any way (most of them) since they are out of date and not similar. Good example are Titan items, that use random colors and formats to give information which becomes very clumsy at a point.

    1) Descriptions being on top or on the bottom

Another trivial complaint about descriptions being on top/bottom.

Personally I have no time to read all those descriptions in-game, so I never bothered to read them when I first started. It takes away precious time from your game-play that could be attributed to learning off other players, which is the fastest way to learn.

    2) Attack animations

I once tried to do a DPS chart of towers, but I was put off by attack animations. @Neco told me later that attack animations only affects the initial DPS, maybe he can confirm that for us. However, I am still skeptical, because base attack time (attack animation) adjusts DPS in DotA.

    3) The point of it is to make it as accurate and easy to understand as possible. APS works better because you can understand it easily and DotA/LoL also uses it, so these players can relate. I also understood it basically instantly when I read it the first time in DotA2.

@Burn I agree that more detailed values would be better. The reason I put vague ones is because they match units/buildings that already exist in the game. The attack speed of the Human fruit trees are no different from other fruit trees, so I just put "Fast".

Dwarf would be a more suitable name, we don't have any of the "standard" races. They're mostly sub-species.

    • Orc
      • Troll
      • Goblin
      • Tauren
      • Ogre
    • Night elf
      • Faerie
      • Dryad
      • Nature
      • Satyr
    • Undead
      • Demonoligist
      • Radioactive
    • Human
      • Pirate
      • Huntress
      • (Dwarf)
    • Forest animals
      • Gnoll
      • Panda
      • Magnataur
      • Arachnid
    • Naga
      • Murloc
      • Makrura
      • (Turtle)
    • Draenei

I guess draenei is the exception.
