Gold bug/feature?

Is this a gold bug, or some LTD mechanics that I am not familiar with?

On level 10 east team leaks 7 bosses to king.
East team receives:
4 x 89 king gold (the expected amount)
West team receives:
4 x 42 king gold (wut?)
I reported the same issue to brouder last year. He said that it wasn't the expected behavior, but he didn't have the time to look into it. Can we track down the issue and at least document it so that we are aware what it is. This is a value bonus right before the arena, which can snowball into arena win, and that can be quite impactful on the outcome of the game.
