gotta agree with dumpster. but the only upside i see in this is that im pretty sure mh wont work with the new map. that is until the mhers find another version. ill wait until the new map comes out, i cant see myself playing this one seriously.

Yeah I think I'll pass on playing this map. Looks like enough people want to play it now where you can have 1 game running most of the time at least, though.

The flow of the games feels completely different than the last version. There are 100 more micro changes in addition to the description adding up to one big change. I kinda dislike it thus far. Still giving it a chance though.

This is why ENT will continue to decline every passing month.

We literally had this thread open for weeks and you guys couldn't take 10 minutes to at least try it out yourself before we decided to just make the change so we can gauge more interest on it. There's not much more we could have done to try and get some trial games going outside of showing up to your front door.

Mike and I have been trying to get ENT players more involved to create an active community. Not a single one of ya'll even messaged us to get a game hosted so we can see what the community likes. Ultimately, any attempt(s) to help this community is an utter waste of time. For this reason, I'll probably not bother trying to do anything but handling some ban requests on here anymore. I feel like Mike and I have put in far too much effort and when we try and get you guys to participate, it's futile.
"It's not the same game." I'd wager we probably lost a ton of players as well who felt DotA was getting stagnant here and these changes should have been made more incrementally to ease players into newer changes.

Almost every large DotA 1 community remaining are playing these newer versions for a reason. Yes, there's some pretty big changes in the flow of the game. That's because this 6.83 map was the standard for over a decade. We were trying to just jumpstart everyone into a new version that had 10+ version changes in 6.83 but maybe these map updates should have happened a long time ago progressively. Are there changes that I agree with? No. But there were changes on 6.83 that players probably disagreed with as well. It's just that ENT was booming back then so players learned to adjust and eventually, became familiarized with the changes.

One thing Mike and I underestimated is how many of the remaining players here are only on ENT because of nostalgia, hence, new changes or updates are heavily frowned upon because nostalgia is the #1 reason you guys are here. You guys aren't here for the gameplay or anything of that sort. You're here for the social and nostalgia aspect so ENT is basically the hub for that. This is why a map change, which is far more important than a Jazzy3113 thread receives barely any comments but you guys have no problem regurgitating dozens of forum pages with Jazzy3113 about how unlucky he is when the 200th comment on that thread is the same comments made on the first page.


For that reason, I can say this map update is probably the wrong move because you guys are quite frankly, resistant to change. This resistance to change is why more and more players ultimately stop playing so in a way, you guys are causing a bit of your own demise.

442 replies bickering with Jazzy. Likely would have reached 600+ replies by now if that thread was still opened and Jazzy wasn't banned.

Fewer than 5 players posting who actually tried the map posting on this thread for weeks about their opinion before Mike and I felt we should just update the map to try and get some excitement going on since very few opinions were offered. That tells you everything you need to know about this community at the current state.

There's a simple but inconvenient fix: uncheck the box labeled 'chat-free' located at the 'others'-tab and hit save.

The downside: if you have your inventory on letter keys (like I do) you will no longer be able to use these letters in ingame-chat, because they will send the corresponding numbers from your keypad :?

You play like 2-3 heroes every game. So any changes to those 2-3 heroes, and the game is unplayable for you. This might be a good sign for you to try other heroes and get yourself more involved with the overall game. I'd be upset too if I only played 2-3 heroes and one of those heroes were affected. Good thing there's dozens of other heroes you can try which are more enjoyable. It's like going to a buffet and being upset that in their 100's of menu items, they changed the soda flavor and you will no longer go to that buffet again.

There's a lot of good changes made. People talk about how unbalanced Slark is. There are lots of heroes that are significantly improved to help counter carries. Slark is always going to be unbalanced in ENT because there's too many lesser players who don't understand how to counterpick him especially in an EM game. They'll pick some bullshit like furion against Slark whereas a hero like ES or Thrall would help neutralize him 100x better. What's your point here? Either you want Slark nerfed or you buff other heroes, which this version does. I don't see anyone nerfing Slark on here so why complain about something that isn't already happening? There are numerous ways to nerf or counter Slark that have nothing to do with the map. No one is advocating for any of that but some item changes and there's outrage?

The ones who dislike the map are very much in the minority in terms of overall DotA 1 players. Again, there's a reason why these changes were made and are now the standard in all of the remaining DotA 1 communities.

I just fail to see how these changes are bad in the long-term. It'll take a period to get used to it because of the wide changes made while we were sitting here like fossils. The core of the game is still the same. Buy wards, help your teammates, and try to win the game. Nothing here is confusing. I just find it funny some of ya'll won't give it more of a chance when you had every opportunity to say exactly what you have said weeks ago.

funny how you have a problem with me playing 2 heros but you dont have a problem with people who think there are only 2 genders..... and secondly i dont drink soda... so yah.. and i said i will be waiting until they release the newest version like the one on b net. dont want to get used to 1 version when the next version will be coming in a month or so.

ok, i've played enough games on the new map. Still need to learn the new items cuz the games don't last enough to try the black market tavern for the most part.

I honestly don't see much of a diff and it is nice to play on a newer map with an update.

I think most of the players that are against is just not happy because they are so used to playing the old map and also don't wanna spend the time to learn.

It's just muscle memory that's fucking you up. Like LC with sceptor was fucking me up cuz i wasn't attacking and was waiting for the ult to end so that i can distance myself from it.

Game flow feeling slow, nerfed heroes, etc....Yes, there may be some truth to it but it's really because it feels "different' than before so it's easy to pin the map as "not desirable"

I'll take this all day on techies.
Techies:
-Land mines will no longer cause damage to the enemy when destroyed.
-Land mine damage is decreased but is no longer capped to 20 mines.

Give it time and this will become the norm.

our side isnt taking shit from yours anymore. if you think this will end in Minnesota trust me, its only the start of something huge.. enough is enough and youll find out soon. im not the only one on ent who feels this way either, there are many of us here but most of them would rather stay on stand by. just be careful because once we break our silence, you wont be able to bare the noise... consider yourself warned.

Stop trolling tranny. It wasn't this version that got you upset playing sniper. I was in game, you just got targeted in a bara game and you got frustrated.

How did this sniper manage to play well if sniper was so nerfed then?

Bugs and problems with new map

I feel like we need a thread to collect new bugs and problems.
Move or remove this and start a new. But feedback ingame isnt enough.
Also I'll volunteer to help find solutions :D

First example: https://entgaming.net/findstats.php?id=12273778 Game was actually over. Suddenly everyone desyncs, only me (as Thrall) and Superballer (Ogre) remain. I was semi-afk in base. So i suppose it was some of Ogres skills. But it's just a guess.
