Who is they?
Blizzard doesn’t really care about custom games. And which specific game do you mean? And does it have an active developer?

If you mean dota, most likely not anytime soon. The last person to be able to fix a few bugs (which was extremely hard for him) was h3rmit, who hasn’t been active in a very long time.

We are left with 2 choices:
Someone steps up and figures out how to update it/ fix all bugs (most likely)

Or

IceFrog magically starts caring again and at least provides an (open) version of dota that can be more easily updated. That’s if he even legally can since he has sold his rights to Valve for Dota 2 (highly highly unlikely)

Dude, there's a beta patch as we speak that fixes the dota issues.

Hi, seems that the YouTD issue is still on-going till now. I already have the map downloaded yet it still downloads it again and kicks @ 99%.

Is there a way around this?

For those who were too lazy to google up, Blizzard did announce that the new patch will fix all the mentioned issues. Patch ETA is uncertain.

The fact it's taking this much amount of time already is unacceptable and unprofessional, though. Back to d2...

You do realize people have been working their asses off to update this, right? They're working on a 20 years old game which no longer brings revenue of any sort, not nearly comparable to Overwatch and HotS, and they're forced to work with a VERY old and very limited engine.

Give 'em some love and patience. They're doing this because of the community, and if you consider yourself part of it, stop being sour and salty and pick a better damn flavor.

Not being a map editor myself, I'm curious whether there actually is a problem being caused by the update at this point, or is it a failure of the map editors to bring their map up to the new standard? From the small amount of research I did, it looks like a map optimization program nearly everyone used on their maps used a file that no longer exists. I'm not entirely sure why Blizzard removed the file, guessing there surely would be a new way to achieve essentially the same thing though.

Not to be calling the map editors lazy, just seems to me that there probably are new ways to do the old things and it's not necessarily up to Blizzard to make it work the way it used to again?

The one thing that I do expect they will be updating in the not-too-distant future is making the menus widescreen compatible, but it isn't really something that affects gameplay so doesn't matter much to me.

Well this patch in particular added 12 new players, and the old version had Neutral Hostile and Neutral Passive players on 13 and 14 player numbers, so when the update added up to 24 players, all the triggers relating to Players 13 and 14 (Neutrals) were instead given to new colors on 13 and 14.

This is a mistake that they foresighted for such an old engine. Nonetheless, update 1.29.1 is live, and it has fixed issues on matter.
