ENT Stream

Postby uakf.b » Fri Jun 07, 2013 8:27 pm

We're launching ENT Stream, so that you can "stream" any game hosted by ENT that has observer slots enabled. The way it works, is you select a game to stream, join a fake stream game over ENT Connect, and then start watching the game (as if you were watching the replay) from the beginning (unfortunately it's not possible to start streaming in the middle of the game yet). There is a preset minimum delay (90 seconds for DotA) from the beginning of the actual game before you can start streaming, but the actual delay is the time difference between when the game started and when you start streaming.

How to stream

First, get ENT Connect working by following our ENT Connect guide; this tool is used to connect you to the fake stream game.

Then, go to https://entgaming.net/stream/ and search for a game to stream (you can enter either a gamename or a username). The gamename should then appear in a list below the filter form; if it doesn't show up, the bot hosting the game probably isn't streamable yet. If it does show up, click on the gamename and it'll open up an ENT Connect tab (make sure you don't have any other ENT Connect instances open).

Now, start up your Warcraft III and navigate to the Local Area Network menu as you normally would when using ENT Connect. After a few seconds, a game called "Stream" should show up at the top of the list. Double click it and wait for the stream to start. Make sure that you have the map downloaded!

Details

When a player starts streaming a game, the player's forum username will show up in-game with a message, "[PLAYER] has begun to stream the game." Similarly, if the player stops streaming, the message will also show up.

Streamers are able to see all chat and observer chat, but no other messages (note that, if you're streaming, you'll see the "begun to stream" message indicating that you've reached the point in the game corresponding to when you started streaming!). Also streamers see whatever a normal referee sees, but with the added delay restriction.

Feedback

If you have any issues with the streaming system, post in the Technical Support section. If you have any suggestions, post in Suggestions. Thanks!
