Playing on the ent

As I understand it, you need to have version 1.30 for playing on the ent. Is it necessary to have a license for warcraft?

Having legit cd keys definitely makes it a lot easier to play on ENT. But it is possible to play on ENT bots without keys via Entconnect. You'll have to get your hands on a copy of the game including the latest official patch (currently 1.30.0.9922) somehow first.
