Input on this matter is welcomed;
After a windows update, I am unable to initiate WC3 TFT. Yet to figure out what is causing it.
"You need directx 8.1 or a newer version to open this program". Next box: "Check your CD-ROM and click retry"
Tried this with no results so far (updating) http://lancraft.blogspot.no/2010/01/war ... s-and.html
I do have the latest version of directx downloaded
Update: The following led to no results
- Tried to lower the refresh rate to 60 Hz
- Tried to manipulate properties of WC3 TFT by adding -opengl in the "target" box
- Downloaded the latest drivers
- Downloaded the latest win updates
- Confirmed that I run the latest ver of directx
Directx 8.1

Re: Directx 8.1
Erase, reinstall directx.
If its properly installed,

Re: Directx 8.1
After updating my drivers, I faced another issue: I got black bars on the side of the game. Initially, I was unable to change the resolution of the game to match my system. However, after updating my graphic card, it was possible to solve the black bars issue by changing the resolution to 1366x768x32.
Will update when I find a solution to the directx issue

Re: Directx 8.1
For NVidia card:
Control Panel -->NVidia Control Panel --> Display --> Adjust Desktop Size and Position --> Select "Use NVidia Scaling"
The black bars are what happens when your graphics keeps a fixed aspect ratio, so it adds the black bars to the sides to keep the horizontal scaling in the same ratio as the vertical.
For ATI card:

This guide should help you optimize your performance, and solve your problem.
Change screen resolution by re-width re-heighting:

Re: Directx 8.1
After alot of trying, I finally solved the directx issue.
I updated all drivers, updated to the newest directx ver ( merely confirmed that I had the latest one, which I did have already). Re-installed wc3
I am not able to pinpoint and say exactly what was causing it. Google is my friend.
