Resolving certificate errors

Postby uakf.b » Tue May 14, 2013 7:20 pm

Note: Before following this guide, make sure that you have the latest version of Java. You can download the latest version from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.

Here are some steps to take if you're getting certificate-related or other security-related errors.

Option 1: Install the ENT Gaming certificate authority

  1. Download and save the ENT Connect certificate to your computer
  2. Open Control Panel (from Start Menu) and then type "Java" in the top right. Click on the Java menu item; this should open up the Java Control Panel
  3. Go to the Security tab in the Java Control Panel
  4. Set the Security Level to High instead of Very High
  5. Click Manage Certificates, and make sure "Signer CA" is selected for certificate type and the User tab is open. Then, press the Import button, search for the entconnect.csr file you downloaded earlier, and hit Open. Then hit "Close", and then exit the Java Control Panel by pressing "Ok".

Option 2: Add entgaming.net to your exception site list

1. Click on the security Tab
2. Under the Exception site list click on the "Edit Site List..." button.
3. Under location, I added "https://entgaming.net/entconnect/".
4. Press the add button
5. Click the OK button
6. Click the OK button again to close the Java Control Panel.

You can also try changing the Security Level on the Security tab to Medium. This is not less secure because you will still be prompted before executing an applet that needs escalated priveleges (you should not accept such a prompt on any website that you do not trust).

Try going control panel>java>security tab> and change security to medium. That worked for me..you may need to restart your computer before it works tho.

An alternative of lowering the security level to medium, I simply added the EntConnect site to the exception list.

After searching for "configure java", from the Java Control Panel :
1. Click on the security Tab
2. Under the Exception site list click on the "Edit Site List..." button.
3. Under location, I added "https://entgaming.net/entconnect/".
4. Press the add button
5. Click the OK button
6. Click the OK button again to close the Java Control Panel.

Though I'm not sure what the security level does in helping security, this method I believe is more safer overall, as it does not affect the global java security.

I also did not install the certificate.

Thanks, didn't know that works in the new version. Will add to OP.

The security level in the current version only affects which applets will be prompted before executing and which will not be allowed to execute at well. Since you'll always receive multiple prompts, as long as you don't trust applets on untrusted websites you will be fine.

It is here: https://entgaming.net/entconnect.csr
If you downloaded it, then usually you'll see it in your "Downloads" directory. The Option 2 in the first post is easier to do though.

@tacticalremix Did you lower the java security settings?
Information, Rules, Guides and everything else you need to know about ENT is on the ENT Wiki.
