(Mostly talking about dota, but I guess applies to other games too). I imagine it wouldn't be too technically crazy to implement.
It would be great if there was a way that we could "freeze" or keep permanent the stats of a handful of accounts, or even just 1. I'm guessing not all accounts are kept because of data storage. But if there could be a way to implement just 1 account able to be frozen, it would probably be helpful for a lot of players, especially higher elo ones.
Like if somebody wants to take a break for a year, come back, and see their stats weren't erased. Also many don't know about the 3-month inactivity rule so it would stop things like a 1600 elo player's stats being wiped recently, and I'm sure would help many other players too. I also guess it'd encourage people to keep coming back to ent long term.
let players preserve stats/elo on maybe 1-5 accounts

disagree with you , it took ent years to update the ranking and only after recent post

if your accounts inactive your elo is not the same of an active players elo.
your elo will actually be worse than an active players - common sense
fresh score > old score
all accounts elo can change from worse or better so freeze doesn't make sense
