Regarding Recent Hack

Postby Scriv » Sat Mar 11, 2017 10:27 pm

Hello Everyone,

Just want to publicly state that I had nothing to do with the recent "hack" of the ENT website. The information provided in the news post is misleading, out of context, and/or incorrect.

The truth is: ENT has no idea who actually "hacked" the website. They have several ideas, but nothing more than circumstantial evidence to prove any of them.

ENT received a "lead" from Larz (for reasons I'm still not sure of) that led them to me being the culprit. There were parts of a conversation copy/pasted that were taken out of context and misled ENT to believing I was behind this or had something to do with it. I had nothing to do nor have any additional information pertaining to the recent hack. I would appreciate it if my name was removed from the news post on the front page.

Thank you.

The sadness you must feel for ruining the lives of so many internet people! This is all these poor souls have. I hope your life feels accomplished by your actions. One of the only places keeping a decent game alive and you have the audacity to attack it. The only place us people who need an internet identity to make themselves feel important.... The horrors you have done makes words hard to put down to express the great demoralizing attack feel rudimentary.

Hope you enjoy your stay at ENT!

lawls, since i dont want to make a post there @bouncinghitman, i can say this they are a joke. Love how they banned a few friends a few years back for destroying their admins in dota, you remember teoeo, he was among one of them who got banned. it was funny since it was griefcode who was in the game and agreed to the ban for no good reason.

"please shine your wisdom on ENT once again and remove all the ignorance and evil, save your community from the ocean of suffering."

LOL i just read this after posting this. Just remember, if you want to be banned on their servers, just beat their admins, and they will rage ban you....

Let the suffering continue!

How can you allow yourself as a community to accuse someone of the hack without having any evidence. It's fine that you got a few idea's about who it is etc, how ever posting it so publicly accusing the wrong people are just wrong in so many ways.
Is this what ENT has become? Really? So not only do you censor shit here, you also accuse innocent (until proven guilty by evidence to the contrary) people.

You stated this many times in regard to replays, that players MUST HAVE EVIDENCE to support they're ban request, now as a community you can't even do that yourself, regarding your own news, i mean how PATHETIC is that?

Seriously staff - Head admins; call yourselves what ever you want, but get some professionalism..

@Agreements We didn't call anyone out in particular unless we knew he is linked to it (hence, there is one name, not three). We know for fact that the channel spamming and announcing was made by Scriv as he admitted it and that it was approved by war3host/dota.vision one way or another. So either both users lie (larz and scriv) or that community is indeed using unorthodox methods. You seem surprisingly fired up considering you aren't named, eh?

We are being blamed for locking announcements but announcements are what they are... announcements and not discussions. dota.vision, on the other hand, decided to "hide" an actual thread (https://dota.vision/topic/81-ent-fail-again/) once they received negative feedback (the last post I saw being http://imgur.com/L6UITOX).

You can speculate as much as you want but the fact the channels got spammed by war3.host and then the website is announced for war3.host, plus the fact scriv was asked to insert pornographic links into ENT's website (which happened) is more than enough to see a connection between the events to war3.host.

If you think channel spamming is fine/fun or something we need in times as such, you should seriously question that stance given everyone already hates on bots enough.

And yes, I will publicly shame them for what they did. Enough is enough and I wont stand, nor tolerate it.
Information, Rules, Guides and everything else you need to know about ENT is on the ENT Wiki.

@aRt)Y

You're wrong. You only have circumstantial evidence based on wrong information. If it makes you feel better to have a scapegoat, then fine; but if you actually want to figure out who did it, then you should keep looking. The fact that you're so quick to jump to this conclusion is proof that you don't have a clue who actually did it and you have no way of technically determining that.

Aside from that, while you're blaming the wrong party, the focus has shifted from the technical failures of ENT:

1. You don't have brute force prevention.
2. You don't (didn't) enforce complex enough password policies.
3. You had a privilege escalation bug.
4. You don't have useful logs to examine.
5. You only have monthly (maybe older) backups of a site with this volume.

@art)y it's no wonder you get hacked, you lack the technical experience (The screenshot you linked to, was good for only one thing, proving exactly this), hence you just blame everyone but yourself. All you linked so far is "circumstantial" at best..
Proof is considered ip/location info, also logs of what happened. What you posted is "Hearsay" which is not usable in a court of law. You can ask anyone about that if you want to, they will give you the same answer.

Try looking through your coding instead of blaming everyone or anyone else. Stick to the facts instead of speculate.
If you had any proof at all, you would report it (you are actually required to by law) and yet, you didn't, you just spoke out in public, slandering and accusing innocent people/community's. That in itself is a federal offence.

And let's not mention the fail backup solution (professional - NO)

Learn some law before you reply; god damn FUCKED WAY you're handling this.
It's no wonder people rather leave your staff than listen to your bullshit.

Well, i normally said that I would never visit the ent forum again, but I think it is wrongfully acting to what I've read here. And finally there is an open discussion about this topic, which I hope is not getting knocked down again.

At first: dota.vision was never a part of the action happend with the spam bot on the channel as we did not merge at that time. So the correct task would be to include war3host only and not dota.vision. If you need to call out we merged, fine then do that. But stop relating this activity in any case to dota.vision.

Also when I do not know @scriv, we have talked only once on a chat for 5 minutes. I do not think your evidence is enough to blame him. There are two connections: 1. The spam bot, which was only intended to bring traffic on war3host and offer a place where ent players can play in the meantime, 2. the porn link thingy.
Have you ever seen various forum hacks? It is common that the hacker changing links to porn sites on the forums itself, so if you call that an evidence, you should firstly get more knowledge on recent forum hackings on even bigger boards.

I totally agree with @Agreements here, that pointing at the wrong one is definitly not correct. You should review the evidence and at some point realize how much and how valuable it is to blame anyone. If you should have, for any reason, more evidence then that, you should make it public so everyone can judge it on the given info.

You seem surprisingly fired up considering you aren't named, eh?

Do you ever considered that this does reflect exactly what @Agreements called? It appears that you also suspect him of being a part of the hack. Good job, you managed to destroy your arguments of having enough evidence with one side-kick.

I once again will recall what I have said also on my board. We made a mistake by blaming you guys making mistakes on the whole situation with the bot downtime and also with the hack and I can openly admit it, this is the reason why we have hidden the post. And I'm still sorry for that. With your recent announcement and this statement you just managed to get on the same level as we did, so once again we are all equal in the end.

As last point. Do you think it is really necessary to call out who hacked you and suspect anyone on that? Wouldn't it be the right task to let your users know their data is secure on this place and that this will not happen in the future again or at least you try your best to avoid it? Who cares in the end who hacked you, fact is there was a security issue which has been now resolved.
Just to note anything aside. If anyone with more knowledge would have hacked you, he would have leaked data of thousands of your members. Be happy it was not the case, else you would have been in a lot trouble.

I just wanted to state this out, it would be on you to rethink your recent actions. If you have for anything questions, feel free to contact me through the email I have used here to register.

Greetings

There is never smoke without fire.

Your names "Agreements, Larz, Scriv, Johnny, DotaVision, War3host" are all popping out for a reason ; not because it's sunny on the east side of the country.

Said without any context or real knowledge. Again, circumstantial, incorrect, and proving our point entirely.

Quit pretending like you guys are the victims. The other forum clearly planned to hack and take down ENT so that their server (made up mostly of demoted ENT staff) would get more players. The whisper bots in main channels prove it. Does it matter which specific person did it? You're all related to it, maybe all knew about it. Now because the hack failed and ENT is fine again, now you're going into damage control and pretending to be innocent.

Amazing all the accounts created in the past two days (and previously demoted staff) that suddenly are so concerned about how art)y is running the forum.

Proof? This account was created prior, but was deleted due to the server rollback. Find some actual evidence and we can discuss. Until then, please don't continue to spread rumors and lies.

I wonder who set up the bot to tell people that because ENT is hacked, they should come to play on their server instead (see announcement screenshot). Let's hear you defend that one.

Oh and this:
scriv wrote:on bnet, i told him the stealthbot campaign was step 1 of taking down ENT
and then bam, hacked the next day
hahaha

You can quit pretending, you know. Anyone who looks at it will know that you guys did it.
