I may have to lower my personal tolerance a bit in order to be more in accord with ENT's community. But would I ban someone every time a curse word is said? Probably not. It's all relative and should be a case by case scenario. I would have to use my good judgement to decide where the line is in each situation and whether or not a complaint has crossed it.

So, did it change my answer? Slightly, yes.

Cursing is not the issue. And of course it is relative. If someone drops an N-bomb once, that is certainly not crossing the line. Being a moderator requires being able to determine when a person crosses that line and understanding that what may seem funny to you could be highly offensive to someone else.

Remember -- it isn't about curse words. Excessive raging is annoying and can ruin a game. Excessive racism is deeply personal and can drive a person from the ENT community.

@Bubblestorms

Only $10.

But seriously, to help make sure a mod doesn't have to admit he's wrong, I suggested this: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7247 . My reasoning is that it's far easier to prevent mod abuse than to clean up afterwards. It's not the biggest change ever, but could save some time and face, which seems to be a priority.

@palsgraf

Exactly. I can't give you a definite answer. Is it bannable? Yes. Could it be as bad as votekicking and afk griefing? Yes.

But, I feel that a player feedback method may be a better approach. Just like on XBox Live, etc.

I am also a huge believer in this philosophy and have let other moderators judge a complaint/ ban request for me, rather than process it myself.

No problem it was directed at everyone. I see great promise in you but I have a question. If a player is doing bad like 0-15 what's the best time to use the !kick command like in what scenario do you believe it'd be okay to kick?

Also what would be the best time to use the !mute command?

Would you be open to being guided your first week of being a moderator should you be accepted?

I believe this has been addressed in suggestions. However the reason I brought it up here is due to the fact that admin abuse is one the biggest problems we face, its always goof to hear a users opinion on how to deal with it especially if they are applying for the role of an admin regardless whether they get it or not. Also duplicate posts should be deleted or moved to trash.

@karasu.

In all honesty, I wouldn't want to ever have to use !kick. It was be reserved for the most severe cases where I felt it would look bad if I didn't use it. Same with !mute. I'm able to put up with the flame via ignoring or squelching the player, so I'd reserve that command for severe cases as well. More importantly, I'd like to earn the respect of other mods and players through my play and ability to help them. I'm hoping that this method doesn't require much, if any, use of those commands.

As far as being guided is concerned: yes. I know there's a learning curve to becoming a moderator and I'm fully willing and able to tackle it with as much help as necessary. It does help to note that I'm a fast learner though, so it shouldn't take too long to get it down.

I like those answers, and for a nifty frame of reference a good example of using !kick is when I kicked a player named wjsprowler for team-killing in tree tag last night. He killed 2 players for no reason and I kicked him. You have the right mind set my friend and ultimately you have my support. Just get active in ban appeals is all I really require from you and get some input on ban requests.

Good answer here, still bad judgement on some situation (not regarding mh from now).

Also, you said he need to be handled. People of the said department (dota moderator) will need to handle him. In this said department, you need the experienced mod (nothing mean) : Me and agreement look like these that will need to handle him (again, nothing against other mod that are doing a well job)

For my part. It is, and stay a no. So everything, if all he needs is to be handled, is on agreement's shoulders. I think we made the turn over the view point. Some agree, some are neutral, some are against.

I think you gave also the answer some people (mod) was looking for, that is a good thing too.

Wish you best, even if I'am against, if you finish inside our staff, I just want you to do one thing. Work hard, show me that you really deserved this place.

Thanks. Good Luck.
